Teenage contestants rep their causes

By A. Felicity Ingraham

Eleven teenage girls will vie for the crown in the Miss Bahamas Teen International Pageant on May 12. Pageant organiser Anthony Smith said the pageant focuses on helping contestants find their current passions and their purpose in life.

During the community service and cause-based pageant, contestants must design an awareness campaign and demonstrate tangible accomplishments relative to the platform. They must also display evidence of their current and future interests.

The contestants were officially introduced to the public at a high energy runway show on March 21. On Saturday, May 4, the contestants walked fiercely in a couture fashion show and evening gown competition. The National Costume Competition was held on April 27.

The crowning event is on May 12 at the Rainforest Theatre, Wyndham Nassau Resort. Tickets are available at J-Line Fitness and BCBG Cable Beach boutique.
