THE PRODUCTION team behind a new upcoming Bahamian movie “The Corporation” said people are going to be blown away after the movie’s release next Friday.
The Corporation is a collaboration done by Collage Entertainment, Dr Dave Burrows and TYC (Total Youth Church). They all agree, the release will have an impact on the youth not only in the Bahamas, but the world at large. According to members of the production team, the movie is a testament to what vision, purpose and character can produce. It shows Dr Myles Munroe of Bahamas Faith Ministries (BFM), as a 15 year old visionary and music group leader.
The movie displays Dave Burrows’ story and his rise from the streets to the pulpit. It talks about the teamwork of Richard Pinder, Henry Francis and Jay Mullings that enabled the fulfillment of the dream of what came to be known as BFM.
The inspirational, suspenseful, funny and dramatic presentation is expected to leave viewers inspired and motivated to change the world for the better. The movie stars the well known duo from Collage Entertainment and the “Stop Likin Man” video series, Tyrone Burrows and Glen Sherman. The movie is also written and directed by the duo with Dr Dave Burrows serving as executive producer.
Dr Burrows told Tribune Religion: “The Youth Alive event, every year we produce some kind of movie showing. I would normally provide a general theme and inspiration, and meet with whoever is producing the movie and we come together. This year, the production team was Collage Entertainment.”
With this movie, Dr Burrows said they collaborated to come up with a specific concept. He said they wanted to show an example of young people who accomplished some things significant, as a way of encouraging other young people to become leaders.
“I released a book in 2010, “The Power of Positive Choice.” And as we talked about my book and concepts for the movie, Tyrone Burrows and I discussed BFM and how the young people were involved in it. He said to me that my book is a movie in itself, so lets merge the two stories. We joined Dr Munroe and my story together,” said Dr Burrows.
Dr Burrows said his story has a lot of redeeming value because of his history of being in and out of trouble in his teenage years. “The book talks about my experiences. Dr Munroe was always on the straight and narrow from a young age and I was the opposite. The movie chronicles his story and my story, and he and I coming together. It shows the journey along the way,” said Dr Burrows.
He said: “It shows how Dr Munroe had a very well known music group, The Visioneers, in his younger days. He was the leader of this music group that attracted thousands of people in the Bahamas. The music was a combination of Rock and R n B, something that was not accepted in the church at the time. The movie is powerful and persons who have already seen the screenings of it, really like it.”
The official release is scheduled for Friday, May 17 at the BFM Diplomat Centre, Carmichael Road, beginning at 7:30pm. There will also be a special showing for school students held next Thursday and Friday at 10.00am.
