POLICE are on the hunt for two men described as “very dangerous’ in connection with the country’s latest murders.

Two men were killed within hours of each other early Sunday morning, bringing the country’s murder count to 39 for the year.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Anthony Ferguson said police have two men in custody in connection with the shooting death of 34-year-old American Kyle Bruner and are searching for a third man.

“Let me from the onset say this is very unfortunate incident. We, members of the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the community, are very concerned whenever someone is killed in such a way as the US resident was killed early Sunday morning.

“But I just wish to say that we are making significant progress in respect to this matter. The first person we wish to look for is Leo Bethel. He is an 18-year-old and last known address is Balls Alley,” he said.

“I wish to say to members of the public, do not entertain these persons who are looking for refuge at your place or any place where you know that they might be. We are asking you to give us a call. We are asking all Bahamians to come together on this one and turn these most dangerous person into the police.”

Bruner, an American Visitor was apparently trying to help a woman being mugged my two armed men early Sunday morning when he was shot in the neck.

Police arrested one man shortly after the incident and another man was arrested yesterday afternoon.

ACP Ferguson said police are also searching for a man known to them as “Wolf” in connection with the murder of an Ida Street resident.

“We have an alias that we a looking for, Wolf. There are a number of persons who were at the location when the incident took place and we are appealing to those persons to come forward and provide us with the information as to where this particular suspect who we have identified as Wolf is located,” he said.

“There are persons out there who know him, who saw what happened and we are encouraging them to be patriotic especially during this 40th anniversary of Independence. We are appealing to members if the Bahamian society to let us come together and prevent these criminals from walking about our streets and committing armed robberies and committing serious injuries which result in murders to members of our society and those persons who are visiting our shores.”

Police say the victim, who sources identified only by his nickname, “Psycho” was in the area of Showtime Bar in the South Beach Plaza with a group of persons, when he was approached by a man he knew and shot multiple times.

He died on the scene.

ACP Ferguson said police need the public’s assistance in solving these murders and many of the other crimes that are plaguing the Bahamas.

He said: “We will continue to do what we have to do and focus on all of the areas we deem necessary and I can say that members of the public will see more of us especially in certain areas and I can also say that the criminals will be feeling us much more.

“I must say that Bahamians really need to come together and provide the assistance that is necessary, the police cannot do it alone. This is our country and we have to be responsible to ensure that the handful of people that are running around robbing people, cannot continue.”
