OFFICIALS at NIB are expected this week to recommend whether suspended Director Algernon Cargill is to be terminated, Board Minister Shane Gibson confirmed yesterday.
While speculation rose that Mr Cargill had already been fired on the heels of a three-hour meeting with the Board on Tuesday night, Mr Gibson said he was still very much employed with NIB.
“I don’t know that Mr Cargill will be terminated. I am waiting on a recommendation from the Board. The Board’s initial position to me, last year October, was to terminate him. They have since received a forensic report, they have met with Mr Cargill (and) they have reviewed his 49-page response. Along with his response from the meeting.
“Sometime between today and tomorrow, they should be sending me a recommendation as to the way forward.”
The Minister added that he was happy the Board and Mr Cargill met, but he questioned the motive behind the dense response that was handed over to officials in Mr Cargill’s defence.
“I guess like everything else, initially when Greg Moss discovered all of the things that was going on at NIB, to deflect from what Greg Moss discovered, he (Cargill) started accusing Greg Moss of doing things. Likewise, to deflect from the results of the forensic report, he is now starting to accuse me of doing certain things.
“At the end of the day, the record is clear that whenever I am in office I try to help as many people as I can. So that’s his version of what happened and I guess he’ll have to stick with it. At the end of the day, I am the Minister responsible for National Insurance. I have certain responsibilities. I have certain lines of authority and whenever it is necessary to exercise those, I will exercise them.”
Mr Gibson insisted that the forensic audit did not produce any adverse findings against Mr Moss.

Gibson's rose coloured glasses respinse to the report is a clear indication that he was not looking for the truth in this matter from the beginning. This type of garbage politics from these immature politicians is what is killing our nation. God help us and save us from ourselves.

Mr. Gibson must be joking with regard to anyone being cleared. Please stop taking Bahamians for fools, you squander nearly $1M and find clear implications on MP Moss. Quite frankly, on MP Gibson as well and please do not think we are stupid by using the laughable statement "When your in you seek to help people".
You are proving to be nothing but a HUGE disgrace to this country MP Gibson. HUGE DISGRACE!
