A Bahamian delegation headed by Antonius Roberts will depart for Camaguey, Cuba today to take part in a ceremony that will make official the donation of Bahamian art to the Oncological Hospital and the Pediatric Hospital of the City of Camaguey.
Mr Roberts, along with Bahamian artists Heino Schmith and John Cox displayed their work in an exhibit last February at the prestigious Art Gallery “Larios” of Camaguey. Several pieces were identified from the exhibit for the medical facilities.
Antonius Roberts, Bahamian master artist, whose career has been devoted to highlighting the wonders of the Bahamas, its nature and people, will be on hand as the installation is made official.
This event is part of a cultural interchange that started in October 2012, with the celebration of Cuba’s Day of Culture, in Nassau, and that was continued with a joint presentation of Bahamian and Cuban artists in Camaguey in February 2013.
“This interchange is intended to strengthen and develop the socio-cultural links between the Bahamas and Cuba, something that will definitely contribute to enrich, not only the cultural arena but also the people to people ties between our two nations,” said Mr Roberts, who will travel in the company of a group of prominent Bahamian citizens, including Sir Durward Knowles.
