7.10pm: At a press conference today, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) revealed thousands of Bahamians were affected by flooding in the aftermath of last night's storm that carried on into this morning.
A warning has been sent out to those who experienced severe flooding, not to drink well water but bottled water or city water, instead. If well water must be used, it should be boiled first.
Those with water inside their homes are also asked not to use electricity. If any persons are in need of evacuation, they are asked to contact the department of Social Services for assessment.
NEMA noted that most of the flooding took place in eastern New Providence, with some areas experiencing waters more than one-foot high.

This is about the most PRO-active alert I have seen the met office give on random weather issues...more often than not, like yesterday, you are a couple hours into the heat of the bad weather and up pops an alert...oh, by the way, in case you did not look out your window, some bad weather should have started a couple hours ago, and you may see it for a couple more hours...come on people...let's be a bit more forthcoming with some weather predictions please.

Funny but true...I was sitting by the window at work when the trees started bowing violently and I said " what is that?!":) they may not have the equipment though...I wonder how many contracts were awarded in the last year vs cost of upgrading such a critical system....
