ATLANTIS is looking forward to a “very strong” July and August, although its president and managing director told Tribune Business yesterday that the resort might 2014 down 10 per cent year-over-year on group business.
“We think that June still represents an opportunity month, and we’re doing everything we can to stimulate some traffic for that period but, up until this point, both July and August are ahead of our expectations in pace and look to fulfill all of our goals. They should be very strong months,” said George Markantonis.
Speaking on group business, the top Atlantis executive said: “Group business is overall reasonable, it’s not as good as last year. We have a very weak group base in September and October, but we are much more optimistic for 2014 and 2015. We may finish the year about 10 per cent behind what we did last year.”
Mr Markantonis said Atlantis twas continuing to develop its $6 million sports book, which he should be available to gaming patrons sometime in August.
While not commenting in detail on the developments, Mr Markantonis told Tribune Business: “We are going to continue to develop our new race and sports book, which is still scheduled to move to its new location and open with a much more sophisticated product and higher limits and options for sports players somewhere around the month of August.
“We continue to do a test run of mobile gaming ,but it would be premature to comment on how that test run is working.”
