SEVERAL legal arguments yesterday prevented a high-profile murder retrial from continuing in the Supreme Court.
Attorneys for Stephen ‘Die’ Stubbs, along with those representing Andrew ‘Yogi’ Davis and Clint ‘Russ’ Evans, presented numerous arguments which Justice Roy Jones affirmed would be dealt with this week.
Their arguments, cannot be published however, as they were made in the absence of a jury.
Justice Jones made an order that none of the information be printed.
The three men face a charge of murder concerning the March 13, 1999, shooting of off duty Police Corporal Jimmy Ambrose. The matter is expected to resume next Monday at 10am.
When the case was last in court on May 22, prosecutors argued that there was “no merit” in a constitutional motion put forward by one of the defendants.
The prosecution was responding to an attorney for Stephen Stubbs who presented authority cases concerning judgements on matters being retried after an “unreasonable” delay.
