THE TRINITY of Praise Church is hosting of a national prayer event in honour of the country’s 40 years of independence.
For 40 days, members of the church are inviting Bahamians to join in prayer, beginning June 1. Minister Sheneque Brice said the church conducts a series of independence prayers every year. They take the ceremony “very seriously”.
“The nation of the Bahamas stands at a pivotal point in its history as it celebrates 40 years of independence. Behind us is one generation of brave, courageous revolutionary men and women who fought for freedom and independence. Before us, a new generation arising to carry on the spirit, traditions and legacy of this great nation,” said Minister Brice.
It is with this objective, Minister Brice said Trinity City of Praise will host 40 days of prayer for the nation’s independence. This season of prayer begins Saturday, June 1 and will culminate during the independence celebrations on July 10.
Trinity City of Praise is the home of the Commonwealth and Global Prayer Grotto, the Bahamas’ first and only 24-hour prayer centre. Minister Brice said the 24-hour prayer centre is a place that is open for people to go in and feel free to pray. She said it has been open for 13 years and they have had persons from all over the Bahamas, Florida and as far as Africa, come in and pray.
Positioned at this most significant crossroad, Minister Brice said, prayer is the key that will shift the nation into a new season of redemption, restoration, healing and deliverance. She said it is the faithful prayers of the righteous that will bring change and take the Bahamas into a future of peace, unity and prosperity.
“Our church, we have an assignment to continue to pray for the nation of the Bahamas. We consider ourselves to be the gatekeepers. And this 40th independence is a major event in the country, so something as big as this, prayer must be a part of it. That is why it is so important for us to do this and also to invite and encourage other persons because we do believe that there is power in prayer. Other churches and denominations can join in,” said Minister Brice.
For 40 days, Minister Brice said intercessors will come together for morning prayer every Wednesday and Saturday from 5:00 am – 6:00 am and for evening prayer on Sunday, June 2, 9, and 23 from 7– 8pm. The last ten days of prayer will include a Daniel Ten-Day Fast with prayer times at 5am and 6pm daily.
“Believers throughout the Bahamas and covenant partners of the Prayer Grotto are invited to join as they all pray. In repentance as individuals and as a nation, for leadership in the church, government and civil society, for the economy, industries and employment, for salvation and the restoration of families, against violence and crime, for the future of the nation and with thanksgiving for God’s faithfulness.”
