Man arrested after firearm found

FREEPORT – Grand Bahama police arrested a 28-year-old male resident of Fresh Creek, Andros in connection with the discovery of an unlicensed firearm.

According to reports, at around 4pm on Wednesday, police received information and went to Allenby Lane where they conducted a search.

Officers discovered a .380 pistol and detained the man for questioning.

• Grand Bahama police made two separate drug arrests in Freeport on Wednesday.

According to police, just before midnight, officers searched a car on the Queen’s Highway and discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana.

A 25-year-old resident of Freeport was taken into custody in connection with the find and is currently assisting police with their investigation.

In another incident, officers were in Fawcett Lane around 3pm when they saw a man acting suspiciously near an abandoned building.

After spotting the officers, the man ran off and dropped a bag.

The officers apprehended the man and retrieved the bag, which contained 66 small packages of suspected marijuana.

A 20-year-old resident of Freeport was taken into custody in connection with the incident.
