DURING his trip to China, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fred Mitchell meet with Foreign Vice-Minister Xie Hangsheng to discuss a number of issues related to the further development of bi-lateral relations between the two countries.
These included the possibility of the trade in Chinese denominated securities in Nassau; the establishment of a Chinese bank in Nassau; and the abolition of visas for tourists visiting the Bahamas – an agreement that would support Chinese tourism to the Bahamas.
They also discussed the progress on nine infrastructural and social projects which the Chinese government are looking to support in the Bahamas.
The meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in China on Monday.
