BRADLEY Roberts has resigned as Chairman of the Water and Sewerage Corporation, The Tribune has learned.

Mr Roberts, who was appointed after the May 2012 election, submitted his letter of resignation Tuesday morning.

When contacted by The Tribune, Mr Roberts confirmed his resignation and said: ”It is true, I have decided to move on.” But he declined any further comment.

According to sources, Mr Roberts had a contentious relationship with W&S General Manager Glen Laville and no longer wanted to work with him.

When called for comment Mr Laville said it would be “inappropriate” for him to comment on Mr Roberts’ resignation.

FNM Leader Dr Hubert Minnis said Mr Robert’s resignation could be the signal that things are not well in the PLP.

“If the Chairman has resigned that is a definite big blow for them since Mr Roberts, who is so high in the party, resigned. There must be some conflict that needs some further investigation, there must be some internal issues, some problems must be plaguing the PLP – who is in charge of this country? It needs further investigation as to why he would resign. Did he resign or was he fired? There needs to be some answers.”

At the time, the FNM criticised the Roberts’ appointment as chairman, pointing out that he was “a bad fit for the chairmanship“ of the Corporation because of his involvement in a controversy over a reverse osmosis plant during the PLP’s 2002 term in office.

In 2010, the matter had reached the Industrial Tribunal during which a former senior WSC employee alleged that Mr Roberts had been a part of that conspiracy.

However, Mr Roberts “categorically denied” involvement in any suspicious activity while serving as Minister of Works and Utilities.

He said that the opposition’s comments were merely a part of the FNM’s failed long-standing agenda to use smear tactics.

the leader of opposition is saying there needs to be investigations and needs to be answers as though he doesn't know that it's him and his party that are supposed to be doing just that, investigating and getting answers
