REMEMBRANCE Sunday events start at 11am at Christ Church Cathedral on Sunday with an ecumenical service followed by a parade and a second service at the Garden of Remembrance, at the back of the Supreme Court building where the Cenotaph is located.
Participating in the parade are marching youth bands and youth groups, including the Boy Scouts, Guides, Boys Brigade, church youth groups, cadet sections of the police and defence forces and government uniform branches.
At the Garden of Remembrance a brief interdenominational service will be held followed by the laying of wreaths by the diplomatic corps and other non government organisations at the base of the Cenotaph.
From 10am until after the church service, George Street between Bay and Duke Streets will be closed to traffic. From noon until after the procession passes from Christ Church Cathedral the following streets will be closed to traffic: Duke Street between Cumberland and Market Streets; Princess Street between Frederick and Market Streets; Shirley Street between Frederick and East Streets; Parliament Street between East Hill and Bay Streets; Bank Lane between Shirley Street and Bay Street.
Traffic not connected to the service will be diverted through side streets.
There will be no parking from 7am until after the service and no vehicles will be permitted to park on George Street between Bay and Duke Streets, both sides of Parliament Street between East Hill Street, both sides of Woodes Rodgers Walk and Bank Lane between Shirley and Bay Streets, both sides.
The 2nd Annual Remembrance Day Concert - A Tribute to The Royal Bahamas Police Force, from the Nassau City Opera Company and Nassau Chamber Ensemble, is tonight at 8pm at Christ Church Cathedral in George Street. Tickets are $25.
