In a rematch of the 2012 Boil Fish Bowl, the V-8 Fusion Stingrays got some short term revenge on the Orry J Sands Pros in week three of the Commonwealth American Football League.
Jamaal Storr was named the Player of the Game for the second consecutive week with 18 carries for 90 yards and two touchdowns in the Stingrays 20-6 win over the Pros at the DW Davis Field on Saturday.
The Stingrays completed just two passes on a day dominated by a dominant ground game and defence that held a shutout for three and-a-half quarters.
Storr capped off the opening drive with a 10-yard touchdown run to take a 6-0 lead.
The Pros would reach the redzone on consecutive drives, but would turn the ball over on downs and fail to get the early game tying score.
On the final possession of the half, a Pros fourth down conversion came up just a yard short and the Stingrays took a 6-0 lead at the half. Storr scored his second touchdown and third of the season to give the Stingrays a two possession lead.
Darrell Moss successfully added the two-point conversion with a short yardage run for a 14-0 lead.
Jervon Culmer added the third score for the Stingrays and a 20-0 lead.
Davaughn Bain caught his second touchdown pass of the season for the Pros with a 40 yard strike for the game’s final score late in the fourth quarter.
In week four the Pros are scheduled to take on the Jets in a rematch of week one.
In week six, both Grand Bahama teams, the Eight Mile Rock Crushers and Freeport Invaders, are slated to begin play. They face each other November 30 at the Eight Mile Rock Pine Bowl.
The first inter-island games of the season take place December 7 when the Invaders travel to New Providence to face the Jets and the Pros travel to Grand Bahama to face the Crushers.
The regular season concludes January 11 and the playoffs are set for January 18 and 25. The Boil Fish Bowl is scheduled for February 1 at a venue to be determined at a later date.
