Rotary, youth clubs clean Yamacraw Beach

IN recognition of World Interact Week, the Rotary Club of Nassau partnered with its youth clubs to clean Yamacraw Beach on Saturday.

Eighty volunteers from the Interact Club of CV Bethel Senior High School, the Interact Club of Kingsway Academy, the Early Act Club of Stephen Dillet Primary, and the Rotaract Club of South East Nassau Centennial, along with sponsor organisation the Rotary Club of Nassau, participated in the clean-up.

The project, which took place between 7am and 10.30am, resulted in 20 jumbo bags of debris being gathered and properly disposed of.

Rotary Club of Nassau president Lapaige Gardiner hailed the project a success, calling it just one example of the positive work our nation’s youth are involved in.

The club president said it is important that Bahamians become more conscious of their impact on the environment, which is the key to our economy.
