ALFREDA Stubbs, 39, who with her 13-year-old son, was stabbed multiple times at her home late Wednesday, died about 1pm yesterday.
Her husband, a veteran police officer of 24 years service, is assisting the police with their inquiries. It is understood that he has been admitted to the Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre for evaluation.
Sources say Alfreda, a pharmacist, and manager of AML food services, was stabbed more than 10 times.
Her son is said to be in serious, but stable condition in hospital. It is claimed that he was stabbed in an attempt to protect his mother.
A cousin of Alfreda, who did not want to be named, said the family is still in shock and surprised that something like this could happen to “such a sweet person.”
Police say that at about 9pm Wednesday they received reports of a dispute at a home in the Sir Lynden Pindling Estates area.
When they arrived, they found the woman and her son suffering from multiple stab wounds. They were both taken to hospital by ambulance.
Mrs Bethel is the mother of four children. Her parents are the Rev Caudius Bethel, a police reservist of Hatchet Bay, Eleuthera, and Shirley Mae Bethel. About four weeks ago, the Bethels buried their son, Neil Bethel, 42, also of Hatchet Bay.
Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact them at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS.
Mrs Stubbs became the country’s 96th murder victim.
This incident comes a day after the Crisis Centre launched its “Say No” campaign, in an effort to eradicate violence against women and children.

We are hitting new lows in this country and the enemy seems to be winning the war, he has a short time. People have given up on God are not yielding to Him, hence the social problems.

Is the business of taking these persons straight to SRC normal practice or is this just because he is a police officer? Also I noted that no where in the article was it mentioned if he was charged with anything ... just says he was helping with their inquiries ... is this normal practice ... would the same thing pertain if it were me???
