A POLICE Corporal and a murder suspect were among five people shot in two separate incidents this weekend.
The first incident happened around 11:15pm Friday.
According to reports, two men were discovered at Cowman Lane, off Malcolm Road West, suffering from gunshot wounds.
When police arrived at the scene they found one man with a gunshot wound in his left leg and the other with gunshot injuries in his right leg, the lower abdomen and the left elbow.
Police say the men were walking on Baillou Hill Road near Malcolm Road west, shortly after 11pm when two men in a white Premier fired several shots at them.
They were taken to hospital where they are both listed in serious condition.
The Tribune understands that one of the victims was wanted by CDU for questioning in connection with a number of murders. He was taken into custody at the hospital and is under heavy police guard.
The second incident happened shortly after 1am Saturday.
Police say three men were leaving a local nightclub on Fox Hill road when they were approached by a man who fired several shots at them before fleeing on foot.
The officer was shot in the chest and the other two men sustained injuries to the upper chest, spine, abdomen, left leg, head and right leg.
They were taken to hospital where they are all listed in serious condition.
According to sources, police do not think the officer was the “intended target” but they are not certain at this time if the victims knew each other.
Investigations into both cases are continuing.
Police are asking anyone with information on any of these shootings to contact them at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991.
