A JURY was selected yesterday to hear evidence in the murder retrial of a man accused of killing a woman and dumping her body on a track road.
However, moments after the all-female jury was empanelled, they were excused by Senior Justice Jon Isaacs until November 25, as there were legal issues concerning the case of 31-year-old Phillip McCartney that needed to be dealt with in their absence.
McCartney, currently on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison, faces a charge of murder concerning the August 13, 2010, killing of Chrishonda Swainn, whose body was found in an area off Faith Avenue South just after 7.30am that Friday.
The victim never made it home from a Solider Road club that night after reportedly hitchhiking with a man driving a Mitsubishi Mirage.
McCartney stood trial in February last year before Justice Bernard Turner.
However, there was a mistrial due to a hung jury.
Anthony Delaney and Raquel Whyms are prosecuting the case while McCartney is represented by Romona Farquharson-Seymour and Candice Hepburn.
