THE Bahamas Postal Service will release a set of stamps entitled Christmas 2013 – The Nativity today.
The six stamps portray scenes from the story of the Nativity and are beautifully illustrated in ink.
According to the Post Office, the unusual medium was selected because of the especially bright and vibrant colours that can be achieved, a move which aims to reflect the Christmas spirit of hope and celebration.
Each design focuses on a particular character, but the theme depicted throughout the set is the Star of Bethlehem or Christmas Star, which inspired the Three Kings to travel to Jerusalem and which eventually led them to Jesus’ house in Bethlehem.
The stamps were designed by Robin Carter.
The series includes:
• 15 cent stamp – The Angel Gabriel’s visit to Mary
• 25 cent stamp – The Road to Bethlehem
• 50 cent stamp – No Room at the Inn
• 65 cent stamp – Jesus in a Manger
• 70 cent stamp – The Angel Visits the Shepherds
• 80 cent stamp – The Three Kings.
