THE Bahamas Volleyball Federation has released the names of the players who have been selected to represent the Bahamas at the 5th CAZOVA Youth Championships in Trinidad & Tobago December 4-9.
Kurkwood Green will serve as the head coach, assisted by Margaret Albury. The team manager is Lloyd Davis.
DeVince Smith is also expected to assist. He will be in Trinidad one week prior with the youth beach volleyball team of Rajahl Moxey and Joel Smith, who will be competing in the CAZOVA Youth Olympic Beach Qualifying Tournament.
Additionally, the federation will be sending Macklyn Rolle, who will attempt to become the latest international referee, joining Kirk Farquharson and Lanza Miller, who are both recognised by FIVA.
Making up Team Bahamas are the following players:
Alexis Hamilton, Alexandria Pinder, Monika Cunningham, Robyn Porter, Gabrielle Ferguson, Alice Roberts, Sevetra Johnson, Courtnee Stevens, Latavia Braynen and Serena Brown.
“These young ladies have been training hard over the past year and a half,” said federation president Joseph ‘Joe Mo’ Smith. “They have worked with the coaching staff of the BVF, who prepared them mentally and physically for this tournament.”
Smith, however, noted that the budget for the championship is $15,000, inclusive of tickets, uniforms and Per diem for the team while in Trinidad.
He said the federation welcomes the general public to “Take One” as our BVF Youth slogan states, and sponsor one of our young athletes.
The federation, he further noted, expressed its thanks and appreciation to all of the parents of the players and the schools they attend for allowing them to be able to make the trip.
