The Anglican Church Men (ACM) branch of St George’s celebrated its 47th anniversary on November 17 at 6:00 pm. The Sons of Thunder, the ACM’s male chorus rendered two spiritual selections. Archdeacon Kingsley Knowles preached on the theme 1 Timothy 4:12. “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
The theme for the service was titled: “No matter where you are, no matter who you are, you are called to be an example.” At that service, three men where installed and jacketed: Vernon Burrows, Lavade Darling and Ryan Cartwright.
These men met the requirements and have exemplified what it means to be a good example in the church and in the wider community. Vice President of the ACM Council, Charles Hepburn, represented the Council President Kevin Ryan, who is away representing the ACM Council of The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands at the Anglican Men of the West Indies conference, for the pinning, jacketing and welcoming of newly installed members.
He congratulated the branch on being a good example and encouraged the branch to keep up the great work that is being done in the valley and the wider Anglican community. Burton Conyers was the Man of Honour for 2013. Gevon Moss, President of St George Branch said: “ Brother Conyers is a role model for men in this diocese, he is a hard worker, extremely active in ministry and he is always ready to answer the call when called upon unselfishly.
“He is a man after God’s own heart.”
President Moss thanked the other branches who were in attendance and prayed God’s blessing upon then as they continue their ministry at their parish church.
