Winners will walk home with cash prizes in hand. Lucky guests will scoop up special giveaways. Either way there will be many participants carrying home goodies from the 2nd Annual Top Barber & Stylist 242 Competition. The event will be hosted at the British Colonial Hilton on Sunday, November 24, 11am-7pm.
“With an overwhelming crowd of supporters of last year’s event, this year promises to be bigger and better,” said Anthony
Smith, project manager.
Vendors will offer special discounts that are unique to the all-day hair care and beauty product shopping expo. The hair competition, which starts at 7:30pm, will feature a live local celebrity hair show with some of the most talented hair stylists on the island, live Avatars, DJ and lots of giveaway.
The theme this year is Music Madness, so music genres of all kinds, and looks of all kinds will be presented the day of the big show. The event always evokes a spirit of sportsmanship felt among the entire beautician community, and adds an extra level of excitement to the industry, said organisers.
“Just imagine, each salon that signs up will have two of their models parade in a style that was specifically done by their beauty shop. The bi-product of Top Barber & Stylist is the opportunity for those who desire or aspire to entice the beauty industry to learn more about the business of beauty and to network with owners and associates in the business. There are highly skilled professionals who are in the beauty and wellness industry that offer lots of consultations to attendees at no cost via the exhibitors as well product retailers,” said Mr Smith.
Student barbers and hair stylists will present their hair masterpieces on stage to compete for the title of Top Barber 242 and the coveted title of Top Stylist 242. Last’s winners Fabulous Ronnie and Lex went off to experience the Image Expo in Houston, Texas, where hair, beauty and image specialist were the dominant theme at the expo. Student winners Kendria Adderley and Welly Daxon are travelling next year to the beauty convention as a part of the gift prize along with cash prize for the victory last year.
“We have six dynamic student barbers, six hair stylist in our student division.
“During this year’s show; we have a special twist in store for our contestants: our professional hair stylist category will feature beauty salons proprietors who have come on board to display different looks that will be featured in a special showcase segment the night of the competition,” said Mr Smith.
