TWO men and one woman were taken into custody during a police operation which recovered seven illegal weapons at different locations around New Providence.

Authorities said Mobile Division officers, acting on a tip, went to Baillou Hill South where they found a handgun and ammunition.

Two men, ages 22 and 19 were detained for questioning, along with a 19-year-old woman, shortly after 9am.

At 3.40pm, the Drug Enforcement Unit confiscated a handgun from Desmond Close, near Cox Way.

No arrest were made.

Then, the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit found a high-powered assault rifle in the Carmichael Road area. Police said the discovery was made around 6pm.

Four shotguns were also found in Malcolm Road West and Peach Street.
