The Insurance Commission’s Jamell R. Bodie, manager of supervisory and regulatory practices, will be one of the featured speakers at the Captives Insurance Basic seminar on November 26, which is being hosted by the Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB)
Ms Bodie is responsible for planning and developing policies, leading discussions on these matters with industry groups; monitoring and reporting on emerging issues in the industry; and determining the impact on regulated institutions.
She is also responsible for new applications for domestic insurers, and external insurers and intermediaries.
Marcy Waterfall, a senior vice-president in the Vermont office of Marsh’s Captive Solutions Group, will cover the basics (Captives 101 approach), and will include: typical structures; benefits of a captive programme; feasibility analysis; dorming a captive; operating a captive; regulatory considerations; and accounting and tax considerations.
Included in the programme will be case studies, and it offers 2 CPE hours for participants. Ryan Pinder, minister of financial services, will give Closing Remarks at the half-day training seminar.
