IN the wake of yet another spate of violence and murders, Prime Minister Perry Christie again promised his government will fulfil its election promise to improve public safety.
Acknowledging that crime has indeed spiralled out of control, Mr Christie said he will work “relentlessly, every day, in an effort to stamp this out.
“No government can stand by and allow this to happen.”
But, Mr Christie warned, the public must also play its part, and report young men who walk around “with guns in their hands” with impunity.
He said the Bahamas must do “whatever it takes” to combat crime, and the public must realise that at such times, some “personal freedoms have to be encroached upon to stop madness”.

Any more promises in that big bag of promises, PGC? It would be nice if just ONE of them could be delivered. Oh, wait! That's the FNM's job. Ha!
