THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY HAS RE-ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FROM 10:40AM EDT UNTIL 12:40AM.
A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING CONTINUES FOR BIMINI AND GRAND BAHAMA ANDROS, ABACO, NEW PROVIDENCE, ELEUTHERA, CAT ISLAND, SAN SALVADOR, RUM CAY, BERRY ISLANDS AND THEIR ADJACENT WATERS.
AT 10:40AM OBSERVATION, RADAR AND SATELLITE IMAGERY DEPICTED LARGE CLUSTERS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MOVING ACROSS BIMINI, BERRY ISLANDS, GRAND BAHAMA, ABACO, AND MOVING TOWARDS NORTH EXUMA CAYS, CAT ISLAND, SAN SALVADOR AND RUM CAY.
SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE SEVERE AT TIMES CAUSING STRONG GUSTY WINDS, DANGEROUS LIGHTNING, HEAVY DOWNPOURS, HAIL AND POSSIBLE WATERSPOUT OR TORNADIC ACTIVITY.
BOATERS IN THE WARNING AREAS SHOULD SEEK SAFE HARBOUR AND RESIDENTS IN THE WARNING AREAS SHOULD STAY INDOORS AND AWAY FROM WINDOWS WHEN CONDITIONS WORSEN. RESIDENTS SHOULD NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER TREES OR IN WATER AS THESE CAN BECOME LIGHTENING CONDUCTORS.
