POLICE are questioning the brother of a murder victim in connection with the Montell Heights shooting that left three men injured and one man dead.
The Tribune understands Jermaine Taylor, who was also shot multiple times Tuesday morning, is now assisting police in their investigations.
According to sources, Taylor is the brother of Vanessa Taylor, the mother of two who was gunned down Monday night in front of her Deveaux Street home.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Anthony Ferguson confirmed that one of the men who was shot, hours after Vanessa’s murder, is now in police custody.
“We are questioning one of the men that was shot. All I can say is that he is also from Deveaux Street and he is under arrest.”
Taylor, with three other men, was shot around 10am Tuesday. Police say two men emerged from a vacant lot opposite the home of the victims and opened fire on them. One man, who The Tribune understands is Leonardo Cash, died at the scene.
Police have yet to release the identities of the surviving victims or the details of their injuries, but Fredricka Minnis, a resident of the area, said one of them was shot in the side, another twice in the leg and the third in the stomach.
Police sources claim that this incident was retaliation for the shooting of Vanessa Taylor on Deveaux Street and Frogman Lane around 7 o’clock the night before.
Neighbours claimed the attack might have had something to do with a dispute involving a relative of the victims.
But Mr Ferguson told The Tribune there is still no clear indication of whether the two shootings are connected.
Investigations are continuing.
