POLICE need the public’s help in solving two armed robberies that occurred overnight in the Mackey Street and Solider Road areas.
The first occurred shortly after 10pm when a resident was standing in the front of their home at Victoria Street, and two men armed with a handgun approached her and robbed her of her purse containing personal effects.
The two robbers then fled the area on foot.
One of the suspects is described by police as a “Rasta male” with a scarf around his face and the other is of a light brown complexion, and he also had a scarf around his face.
In the second robbery, which occurred around 10.15pm, a woman was robbed of her 2012 Honda Accord at Chenille Avenue by a man armed with a handgun.
The vehicle was discovered a short time later in the area of the Baillou Hills Sports Complex destroyed by fire.
Police also have a 21-year-old man in custody after he was found in possession of dangerous drugs on Monday.
According to reports, around 6.15pm, officers from the Mobile Division were on patrol in the area of Strachan’s Alley and Kemp Road, when they observed the man acting suspiciously.
The officers conducted a search and found a quantity of dangerous drugs in the suspect’s possession. The suspect was then taken into custody and is expected to be charged later this week.
