NINE Bahamian veterans of World War Two gathered at Police Headquarters to officially launch and promote the 2013 Remembrance Day activities to be hosted by the British Legion Bahamas Branch.
Cephas Ferguson, chairman and treasurer of the branch, said: “We hope and pray for the general public’s support in our endeavours as we keep this part of our Bahamian history alive.
“These nine men stand in solidarity, as public symbols, and a reminder to thank all of the British Legion’s Bahamian veterans, who trained the British soldiers of the World War Two Allied Forces on Bahamian soil.”
On Friday, November 8 the British Legion Bahamas Branch is scheduled to hold a thanksgiving service with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and other uniform groups at St Agnes Church on Baillou Hill Road.
Remembrance Day this year is being marked on Sunday, November 10.
