TIMESHARE developers are “anxious” to build in the Bahamas, the head of a marketing and public relations firm, telling Tribune Business that this nation has “much to offer”.

Richard Kahn, president of KTCpr, a marketing, public relations and publishing consulting company, told Tribune Business: “The Caribbean remains the number one region sought by timeshare vacationers who exchange their timeshare stays each year.

“This results in opportunities for growth, as there are not enough timeshare resorts across the Caribbean. The Bahamas is a perfect example of an island chain that has much to offer the timeshare guest. Developers are anxious to build on islands that can offer these resilient annual vacationers the right facilities and amenities, which many of the Bahamas islands can easily provide.”

Mr Kahn was the moderator at a Caribbean and Latin America-focused session at the 2013 Shared Investment Conference in Miami, Florida.

“The 2013 Shared Ownership Investment Conference hosted by Interval International was the best in more than two years,” according to Mr Kahn, a veteran marketing and public relations consultant specialising in the Caribbean hospitality industry.

“This was the 15th year of the conference, which originally started as a Caribbean-only Conference, and was expanded to include developers, hoteliers and tourism officials from around the world.

“When the economy took a dip in 2008, the investment conference was obviously impacted in 2009 through 2012, with declining attendance. This year attendance was way up over the past two years, and there was a buzz of activity and deals being made on the side as developers, lenders and others networked.”
