FRESH off the competition in their Shootout Championships, players were back in their bowling shoes on Monday as the City Bowling League kicked off its 2013-14 season at Mario’s Bowling Lanes.
The top player for the night was Bronson Beneby of Carib Construction. Beneby toppled the pins for a high three-game set of 632, followed by runner-up most valuable player Stan Bethell of Unique Discovery with a 585 set.
Frederick Cargill of Team KO led in the high game category with 232 followed by Greg Taylor of Unique Discovery with a 220 game.
The ladies were led by Joanne Powell of Bahamasair Flyers with a 220 high game and an excellent 542 set. Powell was followed by Driskell Rolle with a 542 three game set. Marina McClain’s 205 game was second highest for the ladies.

During the City Bowling League’s Shootout Championships that concluded last week at Mario’s, David Slatter was crowned the champion after he knocked off Lee Davis in a very close match 637-601 for three games.
On the ladies’ side, Driskett Rolle won over Joanne Powell 534-493.
The tournament was dedicated to the memory of Lenny Powell, a former League bowler, national team member and national bowling champion, who recently passed. He was 49.
