FOUR persons, accused of the murder of businessman Kurt McCartney, will stand trial in a year’s time, with a fifth person alleged to be an accessory after the fact.
Lynder Curry, 20, Sumya Ingraham, 26, both of Plantol Street; Thorne Edwards, 23, and Okell Farrington, 31, both of Pinewood Gardens appeared in Supreme Court yesterday for a formal arraignment before Justice Carolita Bethell.
They are accused of murder and armed robbery, which they denied.
It is claimed that while armed with a handgun, they robbed McCartney of his 2007 Hummer vehicle, valued at $37,000.
McCartney, who is the brother of DNA leader Branville McCartney, was shot and killed in Gambier Village. His Hummer was discovered by police a few hours after his death east of Traveller’s Rest Restaurant.
A fifth accused, 42-year-old Terry Delancy, the owner of Virgo Car Rental, was separately being charged as an accessory after the fact.
He is accused of enabling Curry, Ingraham, Edwards and Farrington to avoid due process of the law. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Justice Bethell informed the five accused that they would stand trial before Senior Justice Jon Isaacs on March 2, 2015.
