YESTERDAY, Baha Mar announced another opportunity for training and recruitment in its continuing efforts to recruit Bahamians to fill the more than 4,000 positions at the luxury resort which will be home to the largest casino in the Caribbean.
The Baha Mar Academy will be offering a free Casino Dealer Trainee Programme to provide training for the games that will be featured in the state-of-the-art, 100,000 square feet Baha Mar Casino.
Additionally, trainees will learn Baha Mar-specific service standards and supervisory skills.
“The Baha Mar Academy will teach the technical and soft skills during its training programmes. However, the most important characteristic of a Baha Mar team member is showing a commitment to the Baha Mar standards.
“We are looking for people who have an aptitude for service and a passion for hospitality,” said Paul Pusateri, Chief Operating Officer at Baha Mar.
No experience or prior casino dealer or gaming supervisor training is required to apply to the Baha Mar Academy Casino Dealer Trainee Programme. The opportunity is open to those who would like to begin or to further a career in gaming as part of the casino team at Baha Mar.
“Baha Mar is living up to its promise to transform the Bahamas. We are investing in an unprecedented level of training to ensure that Bahamians from every community who are willing to invest in themselves have the chance to join Baha Mar. Together, we will create a better future not just for ourselves and our families, but also for our country,” Mr Pusateri said.
The training programme will consist of morning and evening courses taking place three and a half days a week for up to 18 weeks. Trainees should be at least 18-years old and submit an application to the Careers section at www.bahamar.com with the title Dealer -Trainee Programme by May 10, 2014. Classes are scheduled to begin in July 2014.
Participants who successfully complete this challenging programme will be extended an offer to join the Baha Mar casino team.

There is no greater "Team" loyalty than when you hire an Out Islander onto the Baha Team. Comrade "Chief Operating Officer at Baha Mar" Pusateri, there has to be a way not to exclude the Out Islanders from paycheck opportunities. Would Bah Mar considered launching an "permanent" Out Islander extension program to send their representatives to hold job interviews at the doorsteps of the Out Islanders? If Baha Mah could created an entire village for thousands of their own Chinese nationals, what about some kind of "Out Islanders Hostel which would provide short-term living accommodation to newly recruited Out Islanders until they can get their feet on the ground and earn paychecks to move on to their own living accommodations? Comrade Pusateri, I am going keep after you to help our Out Islanders an equal chance to join the Baha Mar Team.
