POLICE have five men in custody for questioning into the murder of a 20-year-old man on Thursday night. The victim was gunned down shortly after 9.30pm as he walked through Wilson Track with another man.
The men were approached by three culprits, who reportedly opened fire on the men using a high-powered weapon. The deceased was shot several times in his upper legs and succumbed to his injuries at hospital.
According to reports, police arrested two 17-year-old men, two 24-year-old men and a 37-year-old man a short time later.
In other crime matters, the Northeastern Division arrested six persons for various criminal activities. Two persons were arrested for drug possession; two for shop breaking; one for house breaking and another was arrested for an outstanding court warrant.
Officers also cited a roadside garage owner operating without a business licence.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have information regarding the latest homicide to anonymously call 919 or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS in New Providence or 1-242-300-8476 in the Family Islands.
