AUTHORITIES are investigating several shooting incidents that occurred over the weekend that have left five people recovering in hospital.
Police said yesterday that the public’s help was needed in solving the four separate shootings.
Around 2am on Sunday, Royal Bahamas Police Force officials said a 21-year-old woman was shot multiple times. While reports are that the victim was pregnant, officials yesterday said they could not confirm that detail.
According to police reports, authorities received a call that a shooting happened at a home on Sister Maria Rahming Drive, Millennium Gardens.
When police arrived, they found a woman suffering from several gunshot wounds. She was taken to hospital where she is listed in critical condition.
Police said as far as they know, the woman was asleep in her home when gunshots were fired into her bedroom hitting her multiple times.
Any possible connection between this shooting and a previous shooting in the area two weeks ago have not as yet been confirmed by police.
In another shooting incident on Friday, a man was sitting in his vehicle at the junction of Minnie Street and Moore Avenue, when a man carrying a handgun ordered him from his vehicle. Police said the incident happened at 9:30pm. The suspect then shot the man in his right thigh and fled on foot. The victim was later taken to the hospital.
A short time later, at 10pm, authorities received a call that two women and a man were shot at Plantol Street as they stood beside a car.
The man was shot once in his knee, one of the women once in her hip and the other woman was shot multiple times in her body.
Each victim was taken to hospital where the man and woman who received single gunshot wounds are listed as stable.
However, according to police the third victim, who was shot several times, is in critical condition.
Meanwhile, police said there were several separate armed robberies in which the victims were stripped of a vehicle, cellphones, and cash.
On Saturday at 8pm, authorities received reports that a woman was robbed of her silver coloured Nissan Skyline. The victim was on Key West Street when a man armed with a handgun took the car and sped off.
In another incident, just an hour later, a group of women was at a family gathering at a residence on Gladstone Road. The women told police that they were approached by a man armed with a handgun who robbed them of several personal items. He fled on foot.
A group of men were also robbed as they stood at the rear of a business establishment at East Street south on Friday. Police said the culprits were four men who drove a white Honda Fit. They were armed with handguns. They escaped with two cell phones and cash.
It happened at 3pm authorities said.
Anyone with information that can assist police are asked to contact them or visit their nearest police station.
