The Emmanuel Gospel Chapel, located on Emmanuel Drive in the Malcolm’s Allotment Community, celebrates six years of ministry in the form of a community fun day.
The annual event will be held on the church grounds this Saturday.
“It is a time for family, fun and fellowship as the entire church comes together to prepare and serve free meals to the members of the Malcolm’s Allotment Community,” church representatives said. Other fun activities include face painting, an Adventure Learning Centre puppet show, three-point shoot-out contest, games table and bouncing castle for the children.
A health booth, where blood pressure, cholesterol and sugar levels can be checked will also be available.
In addition to meals, clothing and household items will be given away. The fun day, which will include spiritual ministry and counselling, will end with a Junkanoo rush-out by the Prodigal Junkanoo Group.
“The fun day was born out of a desire to give back to the community of Malcolm’s Allotment, sharing God’s love and reaching them with the gospel of Jesus Christ through this ministry,” the church said.
Saturday’s event is only one of several outreach activities at Emmanuel Gospel Chapel. There is a community walkabout every month, the Reach n’ Teach homework assistance programme, soup kitchen, vacation Bible school, Teen Scenes Camp (Eleuthera), Family Island Outreach and Global Missions.
Pastor Benjamin Smith and his wife Jocelyn Smith thanked the hard-working fun day committee and church members for their continued support and participation each year.
Emmanuel Gospel Outreach said it believes that missions are not near to the heart of God, but rather are the heart of God.
