Christie switched sides

EDITOR, The Tribune.

The previous attempt of the then FNM Government to change the provisions in the Constitution, were heading positively for ratification as both the FNM, then the Government had obtained the total voting support of the PLP then the Opposition led by Perry Christie.

Then there was the infamous public meeting at COB, and the bomb burst.

The scheduled speakers were Hon Tommy Turnquest, Dr Gilbert Morris, Perry Christie and, as I recall, Jeff Lloyd, the moderator. I may be missing someone else.

The politicians went into the discussion in love, but left divorced and the rest of the story was the total defeat of all the items on the Referendum, including raising the working age of Judges, if you can imagine that.

I do not recall any issue with the churches.

The PLP, led by one Perry Christie, switched their support when they saw the political advantage to oppose and yes the eventuality was in the following General Election, the PLP was elected.

Editor, the truth does not lie, even if people wish to twist and bend it.
