More than 100 recent college and high school graduates are on their way to careers at Baha Mar, having completed Baha Mar’s Jet Setter Summer Programme. All 102 participants have been identified for positions among the luxury hotel brands at the Cable Beach mega-resort.

Students last week received an in-depth look at some of the career opportunities available to them at the Grand Hyatt, Rosewood, Meli� Nassau Beach and the Baha Mar Casino and Hotel.

The Baha Mar Academy’s Jet Setter and Junior Jet Setter programmes are designed to give recent college and high school graduates the chance to explore careers in hospitality while learning what it takes to open and operate the $3.5 billion luxury resort.

Jet Setters now have the opportunity to take their careers into their own hands, choosing between different offers from the hotel brands based on their feedback. Participants will then begin specialised training plans that will prepare them with the technical skills and knowledge for their chosen jobs.

“Baha Mar continues to search for the best and brightest young Bahamians who have a passion for their country and providing better-than-best service,” said Baha Mar Chief Operating Officer, Paul Pusateri. “These summer programmes at Baha Mar are providing young graduates with the skills and training they need to begin a career in hospitality and be a part of this transformative project at Baha Mar.”

The Junior Jet Setter programme is aimed at 2014 high school graduates with diplomas, while the Jet Setter programme is geared toward 2014 college graduates with diplomas. Participants were trained in people skills with a focus on soft skills, guest services and communication, as well as introduced to various departments in hospitality including housekeeping, reception, food and beverage service, culinary and the bell desk.

Training consisted of sessions with specialists in the Baha Mar Academy and intense sessions with members of the executive committees of Baha Mar’s top hotel brands.

Additional Jet Setter Mixers are set for the coming weeks as more cohorts join the two-week programme in an effort to place all participants on career paths.
