THE ENTERTAINMENT industry in the Bahamas is flourishing with new talent, and Foreign Sound is one of the many performing acts who recently emerged on the scene.

The fairly new band shared their music experience with In Ya Ear from the day they formed in 2012 to today.

While the lineup has gone through many changes over the past two years, the idea of this rock fusion band remains the same: to create unique and diverse music for any audience.

“With this, the music became more complex, when the different personalities found their way into the music, which strengthened the overall idea of the band,” said Julio Jimenez, the band’s lead guitarist. “The fan base is steadily growing thanks to gigs at the Volume Music Bar, also with social media such has Facebook.”

Foreign Sound is made up of members Abiyah Woodside (keys/vocals), Dominyc Rolle (drums/vocals), Maz Joachin (rhythm guitar/lead vocals), Fabian Fountain (bass guitar/ vocals) and Julio Jimenez (lead guitar).

“The band as a whole currently performs every now and then at the open mic night on Mondays at Volume Music Bar. We are also preparing ourselves to enter the upcoming Band Fest and Global Battle of the Bands competition. We do not have any official album released songs at the moment, but we are currently in the process of recording a single,” said Julio.

To keep the band focused at all times, Julio said they set specific goals and implement a time table that they have to adhere to.

He said he is looking forward to the release of the group’s EP in the very near future and hopes that their supporters continue to look out for Foreign Sound at events.

The lead guitarist said there are more musicians than ever before on the local scene right now, but there is still room for more and for Foreign Sound to grow.

“There is an abundance of opportunities for Bahamian musicians, for example FourEver 1 , K J, Avante Guarden and Sketch, who are very successful Bahamian artists,” said Julio.
