A MAN wanted by police for armed robbery was shot multiple times and killed on Thursday night, nearly a month after he was shot in the leg and lower abdomen.
Police say they received a call that shots were heard in the Lyon Road area off Shirley Street around 10pm. When they arrived on the scene they found the lifeless body of a man lying on the ground.
According to reports, the 23-year-old victim was standing in the street when he was approached by two men armed with handguns. The victim attempted to run, but was cornered at the rear of a local business where he was shot several times. He died at the scene and the men escaped on foot.
Police have not identified the victim, but The Big T understands he is 23-year-old George Nixon. Police issued a wanted bulletin for Nixon, aka “Baboo”, in May. He was being sought in connection with an armed robbery.
Supt Paul Rolle, Officer in Charge of the Central Detective Unit, also confirmed that Nixon was shot by armed bandits nearly a month ago.
Nixon’s death came a day after 44-year-old Edward “Sin” Taylor was shot and killed outside his home off Nassau Street. Taylor was wanted by police in 2012 for the murder of 27-year-old Delroy Jerome Daxon of Cowpen Road.
Anyone with information on these murders are asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.
A 16-year-old boy, who escaped from Simpson Penn Centre for Boys earlier this week, is in serious condition in hospital after he was shot during an armed robbery.
According to reports, around 9pm on Thursday, the teen was standing in his yard at Silver Gates when he was approached by two men, one of whom was armed with a rifle.
The armed man shot the teen in the side before entering the house and stealing cash as well as an assortment of jewellery. The youth was taken to hospital where he is listed in serious, but stable condition. Investigations continue.
