A 23-year-old man was shot in the head and killed early yesterday morning after getting into an argument with a group of men over a woman inside a local nightclub, police said.

Police have two men, ages 23 and 24, and a 21-year-old woman in custody for questioning in connection with this homicide.

The shooting happened shortly after 2am in Coral Harbour.

According to Chief Superintendent Paul Rolle, officer in charge of the Central Detective Unit, the victim was in an argument with several other men inside High Rollers Sports Bar when the fight spilled over into the parking lot and turned deadly.

“Around 2:30am police received reports of a fight and gunshots being discharged in the Coral Harbour Plaza, the plaza located on the airport road. Our information is that patrons were on the inside of the night club when they got into an altercation over a female where (an) individual wanted to dance (with her),” Supt Rolle said.

“They in turn went to the exterior of the establishment where persons started to leave and seeing the male that they were fighting with earlier, the men approached him again and they got into another altercation, exchanging blows. During the fight, persons pulled up in a gold Honda Accord and two other occupants exited, one got a handgun and shot the male in the head. The persons got back into the vehicle and sped off into the Carmichael Road area.

“Persons at the club placed him in a white Chevy and a female who knew the victim tried to take him to the hospital. Officers who were in the area, making their way to the night club, saw the Chevy travelling at a high rate of speed and pursued the vehicle because the persons were driving dangerously and they noticed a foot hanging out the rear door of the vehicle. They got the vehicle to stop on Carmichael Road, about five miles away from the club. They noticed a male was on the inside suffering from a gunshot injury to the head. EMS personnel were called and pronounced him dead.”

Acting on information, Supt Rolle said officers then went to the home of one of the suspects where they met the two men arriving at the residence. The men pulled off when they saw the police, but were arrested a short time later in the Carmichael Road area.

“We also have the female in custody,” Supt Rolle said. “She was driving the vehicle and took the men away from the night club. We are speaking to her since she seems to be the person this whole incident was about.”

The victim has been identified as Taran Antoinne Greenslade.

Anyone with information on this murder is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.
