Scotia unveiled as Bahamas' top bank

Scotiabank has been named Bank of the Year in the Bahamas by The Banker magazine, a Financial Times publication.

Scotiabank (Bahamas) managing director, Sean Albert, accepted the award on the bank’s behalf in London.

“We are proud of this award because it is a reflection of the hard work of our employees and their focus on providing sound financial advice and good service to our customers,” said Mr Albert.

“Scotiabank has had a presence in the Bahamas for almost 60 years, and in the Caribbean for 120 years. We’re proud to be known for providing personalised financial solutions to our customers, and for delivering superior results for our shareholders.”

Scotiabank also captured the Banker’s Bank of the Year award in Antigua, Barbados, Belize, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago.

The Banker selects winners based on their ability to deliver shareholder returns and gain strategic advantage. The magazine is the world’s longest-running international banking magazine, and is recognised as a leading source of information on finance and investment around the globe.

Scotiabank’s Caribbean operations have been recognised with numerous awards this year, including:

* Bank of The Year in the Caribbean from LatinFinance;

* World’s Best Consumer Internet Bank in 21 countries across the Caribbean, including the Bahamas by Global Finance, along with regional recognitions in North America, Latin America and the Caribbean;

* This year, Scotiabank was also named one of the World’s Best Multinational Workplaces by the Great Place to Work Institute.
