A 27-year-old man was airlifted to Nassau on Saturday after his leg was partially severed in an industrial accident in Bimini.
It happened around 3:30pm at Resort’s World, Bimini Bay.
Police say the victim was removing a 40’ flat bed loaded with steal that was attached to a tractor head when the accident occurred.
According to reports, the man, who is an employee at the resort, was standing on the tractor head when the flat bed’s flat trap, which was loaded with steel, loosened and dropped on his right leg causing serious injury.
He was rushed to the Bimini Clinic where his injuries were so severe that he was airlifted to the Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau for treatment.
He is listed in serious condition.
• In crime news, police arrested 11 persons on Friday during an operation targeting wanted persons and prolific offenders.
The operation resulted in one person being arrested for stealing by reason of service, one person for disorderly behaviour, three persons for house breaking and five persons for outstanding criminal warrants.
