BRAN: Sad state of affairs if we see Christie v Ingraham

Branville McCartney

Branville McCartney

DNA Leader Branville McCartney said it is a “sad state of affairs” to see Prime Minister Perry Christie intimate he will stay on for another term if his counterpart, former Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham were to return to challenge him in the 2017 General Election.

Questioning what such a measure says about politics in the Bahamas, Mr McCartney said both men have had their time in office.

“Mr Ingraham had his time and Mr Christie’s time is due and yet they cannot release their grip on power. Why is this? You have to wonder. Mr Ingraham repeatedly, time and again, said he would run for two terms and two terms only! What happened? He completed a third and now wants a fourth? Words from the past uttered, “no one woman can born a Prime Minister”!

“Mr Christie publicly stated that if re-elected he would hand the reins of power to a successor midway through this his second term. Not only has he gone back on his word but appears now ready to play more games with our future because his friend and business partner is threatening to return. We cannot afford the games these men are playing with our nation to continue. What happened to ‘building a bridge to the future’,” Mr McCartney said.

According to the DNA leader, there seems to be a ‘collaboration between these two men – political opponents, business partners and friends – to continue to stagnate the progress and growth’ of the Bahamas.

“They are two sides of the same coin and we cannot afford their back and forth games – it’s embarrassing to our country. We know what Mr Ingraham has offered in the past and we see what Mr Christie is now doing to this country. No right-thinking person would think it sensible to bring either of these men back. Under their leadership, we have seen a rise of crime and the fear of crime, we have seen the unfettered influx of illegal immigrants and the proliferation of illegal shanty towns, we have an economy in peril and are locked into a recession that they have been unable to see a way out of.

“Quite frankly, they have failed! The only thing they can offer now is the same song and dance that has us in this mess we are in today,” he said.

Mr McCartney said the childish game between Mr Ingraham and Mr Christie must now come to an end.

“We as a nation cannot afford the constant back and forth when real substantive changes must be made. If anything is obvious in this country with the many problems we face it is this: we cannot keep doing the same thing over and over again. This insanity must stop and we must look to new leaders who can and will bring change.”

Bran. You ran a group of jokers last election. You met with some pretty shady characters to get advice on starting the DNA. You ran a candidate that was actually under indictment. You ran Rodney Moncur man. Your attempt in the last election was so obviously a vendetta against Hubert man. We cannot possibly take you seriously. Oh and yes we will also never go with any self appointed leader. Have a convention, get voted as DNA leader then you can come say and you are the elected leader of that party. Sorry but as it is now the DNA is more dangerous than any other party in my books.

You had a shot and you showed you are no different than any of the parties.

You cannot possibly expect us to believe you are the agent of change after the last election.

Get real dude.

AGREED. Jokers is correct. I am all for new and positive ideas, but just because there is a new color on the block doesn't mean it's automatically the right way to go. I don't care how young Bran is , he could be 35 for all I care- that don't say nothing about his ideas and plans to fix the country.

Wasn't this the same individual who opposed the marital rape law on national television and then quickly retracted/changed his statement once the uproar started? Ironic given that the DNA has an active "womens comittee" or something that stays on the radio talk shows discussing womens rights. They need to convince the leader of the party before they take to the public.

You can't diss Christie and Ingraham and then have Moncur on the otherside. That man is a trip!

None of them believe in the marital rape law, even the church don't believe in it, that is the reason why it is still going on.

Lord listen who talking. Bran does not have a single idea in his head as to how a Country should be run. He has no vision. This is the man who says there should be public floggings.

Christie and Davis' agenda is all about personal wealth and fame, with a hint of tryin to do something for the country. They dont care. Who are we the people to express what they should do? If Christie could regret having a referendum and spending 1+ mill then you know your leader doesn't have a clue what he's doing. They meant to fix those referendum questions where either YES or NO would not affect these number houses. Christie's agenda is failing, Prime example of how Davis could attend and take pictures with well known law breakers who are taking advantage of the country through loops holes that each member of the PLP seems to be oblivious about while it is so obvious to the people. The people speak yet you do nothing about it. We KNOW that these 'bosses' have been supporting you all during the campaigns, cheapest ya come out and just admit. We just want the 'truth', but ofcourse only 'lies' will win yall seats in the so called house. They take Bahamians for fools. The PLP is nothing what Pindling had envisioned, everyone is just after personal wealth and fame.

Don't forget that most of the present PLP surrogates were the ones who profited from the 1980s drug days when Pindling was unable/unwilling to stop it............... enters HAI

Now the PLP leopard is back with the same crew of operatives controlling Perry

Bran needs to have several seats. I'd rather not vote for anyone than to vote for his party of nitwits. The PLP is done...no one in their right mind will vote them back in (notice I said "in their right mind". The PLP has kept none of their promises and has only brought shame on this country since they were voted back in. People are now conflicted...to vote for the PLP with the worthless ostrich leader, the FNM with the spineless leader, or the DNA with the Stalin-esque leadership style and archaic, "women are 2nd class citizens" viewpoints. HMMM...it's a tossup! The FNM would win by a landslide IF THEY WOULD JUST ELECT LORETTA BUTLER TURNER AS PARTY LEADER!!!! It's past time. You would be surprised at just how many persons are calling for Loretta to be party leader of the FNM. LET'S DISCUSS!

Quite frankly I agree with Comrade "Public Flogg'in" Bran how both freinds and former law partners have had their time on Bahamaland's political stage. But nether of these men's could have remained as prime minister without the majority support of their respective party's MP's in the House of Assembly. Bran you never resigned from PM Ingraham's cabinet over any of the points you're now saying they failed at. Bran you got elected to Bamboo Town "only" on the exact same Papa song and dance that has us in this mess we are in today. Let the record show that without Papa you ain't much of an electable politician in any constituency lived-in by Bahamalanders and that is a proven fact.

And, all da Comrades says AMEN that!
