A HIGH-speed chase led to a man being shot by police moments after he allegedly robbed two women at a night club in Coral Harbour.
It happened around 2am Thursday.
According to reports, two women were leaving a night club in Coral Harbour when two men, armed with firearms, robbed them of their 2000 Honda Civic, two cell phones and jewellery.
One of the men then sped off in the victim’s vehicle, while the other suspect got into a waiting Nissan Sunny and sped off.
The two women immediately alerted police of the robbery.
Officers on patrol in the area, located the suspects and pursued the two vehicles. During the chase, the driver of the Sunny lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a wall on Chapel Streets.
The two male occupants of the car ran into nearby bushes.
A short while later, police caught up with and confronted one of the suspects, who allegedly pointed a rifle at the officers.
In response one of the officers drew his service weapon and shot the suspect in his arm. The 20-year-old man was taken to hospital by ambulance where he is listed in stable condition. He is under heavy police guard.
Police also discovered that the Nissan Sunny that was used during the chase was stolen during an armed robbery on February 5.
Investigations continue.
In other crime news, police are asking for the public’s help in solving a shooting incident that has left two men in hospital.
It happened around 7:30pm Wednesday.
According to reports, the two victims, ages 24 and 19, were sitting in a yard at Ludlow Street, off Wulff Road, when three men in a white vehicle pulled up, opened fire on them, then sped off.
The victims were shot in their legs. They were taken to hospital where they are listed in stable condition.
