On Saturday, March 1, 2014 the Anglican Church Men of St. George’s will host our its third Men and Boys Encounter.
The event takes place under the theme “No matter where you are, no matter who you are... you are called to be an example”: taken from 1 Timothy 4:12, “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” The event is to share with Christian boys what it means to be a good, upright and decent man in the Bahamas, where there are so many contrary examples. Speakers Include Deanza Cunningham and Clinton Minnis. During the course of the day, there will be rap sessions, group discussions and a community walk about that is part of the group’s evangelism efforts. There will be much fellowship and dialogue with men sharing testimonies with boys. We trust there are men and boy who think this experience would be worthwhile and come to participate from the parish and the wider community in the Valley.
Together we must find our way back to those elements that bring our young men back to God and become a positive role model in society. It is our hope that after this encounter the participants will be rejuvenated and re-energized to continue to make a positive impact in their homes, their communities and indeed the nation as we continue our efforts of building one boy at time into manhood. In addition, I think it is vitally important for the participating men to be reminded of their roles as leaders and why it is important to be examples in this community, said President of the ACM Branch of St. George, Gevon Moss.
