Man held by police after murder in Exuma

POLICE in Exuma have a man in custody assisting them with their investigations in the country’s latest murder.

The homicide happened around 10.30pm Tuesday in Rokers Point, Exuma.

Police say the 23-year-old victim was at home along with another man, when two men armed with handguns entered the residence.

One of the suspects shot the victim several times before fleeing on foot. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the island’s local doctor.

Police arrested a suspect a short time later. A team of five homicide detectives from the capital are also in Exuma, assisting them with their investigations.

• Police are also investigating a shooting incident in the capital that has left a man in serious condition in hospital.

It happened around 2.30pm on Flemming Street.

According to reports, the victim was lying on a couch in his apartment when two men, armed with handguns, stormed in and shot him several times before fleeing on foot.

The victim was taken to hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

• In other crime news, police are asking for the public’s help in solving two separate armed robberies.

The first incident took place at about midnight on Tuesday.

Police say a woman was exiting her Honda Fit at her Marshall Road residence, when a man armed with a handgun robbed her of her vehicle and sped off

In the second incident, shortly after 2am on Wednesday, police say a man and a woman were standing in front of their Sapodilla Boulevard home, when two men armed with firearms robbed them of cash before fleeing on foot.
