POLICE are investigating an apparent suicide after a man was discovered hanging by a rope in his Coral Harbour apartment.
News of 24-year-old Nathaniel Gibbs’ death shocked area residents, who said that the young man had been living in the apartment off Adelaide Road for less than two months.
At the scene yesterday, Superintendent Stephen Dean said: “The responding officers, upon arrival at the scene, they met the lifeless body of a male hanging from a piece of rope on a treadmill.
“At this point in time,” he said, “we are treating this as a suicide investigation. We are still in the preliminary stages, and still appealing to members of the public who might have some information to please contact us.”
Police have not yet released an official identification; however, several persons at the compound of JB Liquor Store and Apartments identified the victim.
According to an area resident, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, Mr Gibbs lived alone and frequented the store. He was said to have had a polite and respectable demeanour, but had become noticeably withdrawn in recent weeks.
Police investigations are continuing.

Bahamians continue to commit suicide.....While the PLP continue with their heads up their ass's...That they can "soften the blows" and all is well.

Yup, hopefully 2017 will be that last chance at government for the PLP I pray. Majority of Bahamians are living like modern day slaves. Who knows how many more will commit suicide. Life is only getting harder for the unfortunate and middle class, soon there will be little to no middle class.

This is so extremely rare for Bahamians. I've never heard of a young male Bahamian doing this.
