AFTER two promising days in the Kissimmee Bay Golf Classic, Bahamian golf pro Georgette Rolle suffered a disappointing third round to fall out of contention.
Rolle finished No.21 in the field of 32 golfers after she shot a third round 80 for a total of 223, +10 over par. She dropped 12 spots on the final day of the event which was the latest in the SunCoast Ladies Series at Kissimmee Bay, Florida.
Jung Min Lee shot a 201, -12 under par to finish in first place after rounds of 64, 65 and 72. Song Yi Ahn finished second at -9 under par (204) while Maria Hjorth and Kris Tamulis finished tied for third at -3 under par and Krista Puisite closed out the top five at -2 under par.
Rolle’s final round got off to a promising start after she made par on the opening hole of the front nine.
On the second hole, she double bogeyed a par four and bogeyed three of the next four holes.
She closed out the front nine by making par on the seventh, eighth and ninth holes to head into the back nine at +5.
Rolle opened the back nine with a bogey and would go on to bogey an additional three holes to finish the day at +9 over par.
Playing her first tournament since the Pure Silk Bahamas Classic at the Ocean Club Golf Course, Rolle opened play on Monday when she shot a -2 under par 69.
She scored a tournament high five birdies in her opening round, including a birdie on the second hole par four which gave her much trouble in the third round.
On day two she shot +2 over par for a second round 74 to head into the final round in ninth place.
She totalled three birdies in round two, but also suffered the first of two double bogeys in the tournament.
Rolle experienced most her her course success on the par 5s where she shot -1. On par 3s she shot +3 and on par 4s, +8.
According to their website (www.suncoastgolfprotour.com) the Suncoast Ladies Series is designed to target and develop players seeking a path to becoming a regular on the LPGA tour.
