Antique Auto Club gets into gear for gift giving

MEMBERS of the Antique Auto Club of the Bahamas recently got together for their annual Christmas gift giving.

On the morning of December 13 a number of club members met at ABL Tiles on Wulff Road for their annual preparation of food parcels and gifts for some 80 children from needy homes.

Those present included Don Pinder, Vice President; Murray Forde, Secretary; Past Presidents Don Aranha, Peter Armstrong, Richard Blake and Peter Grist and club members Irene Pinder, Wayne Aranha, Wilfred Rolle and Leroy Roxbury.

Club members have been doing this for some 22 years, almost since the club was founded as a meeting place for people who have an affinity for old cars and trucks.

Every Christmas, the club buys and packages toys for up to 80 children and asks for donations from the major food wholesalers to give those children and their families a Christmas feast. They try to visit two different schools each year and for 2013 those schools were Uriah McPhee on Kemp Road and TA Thompson on Wulff Road.

All the recipients were very appreciative and thankful for the club’s help.
